J. Córdova’s new EP on NAAFI is here

The new EP from Agua de Rosas’s member and co-founder, J. Córdova, is out now on NAAFI (Mexico City).
Hotwire came together through J.Córdova’s deep experimentation with vocal chops—transforming acapellas into a wide range of grooves and textures. This EP is deeply rooted in the sounds of Chicago house and techno, channeling the raw, unapologetic energy of the Midwest club scene. It’s gritty, tense, and charged with a fierce, unfiltered attitude.
Tracks like “Meanstreak” and “Verdeazul” revolve around grinding, jagged synths that pulse with relentless momentum. “No Quieren Tiroteo” leans into bass-heavy territory, looping vocal fragments from Hurricane G’s iconic Underground Lockdown—her memorable line bendicion madrina repeating like a mantra for the streets. The title track “Hotwire” delivers peak-time energy with rave-inspired synth lines, rapid-fire drums, and hypnotic vocal manipulations.

“Hotwire is a spark — a short circuit that fuels everything else, like starting an engine without a key. A gesture of defiance that fuses danger, intensity, and acceleration. On his new EP for NAAFI, Milwaukee-born producer J. Córdova turns the act of hotwiring into a metaphor for sonic rebellion: hacking the system, bypassing permission, and releasing pure intensity.”
